Welcome!

Welcome to The Bourbon & Rum Podcast, your home for unfiltered political discussion, debate, and analysis conducted with civility and a shared glass of fine aged spirits. Brothers Kent and Kyle cut through the noise of today’s polarized media, offering a unique across-the-aisle dialogue on critical global conflicts, systemic challenges, ethics, and philosophy.

If you are searching for thoughtful, respectful debate that prioritizes understanding over outrage, you’ve found your new favorite show.

Our Mission

To challenge ourselves, inspire hope, and encourage more honest conversations, because meaningful connection is possible, even across deep divides.

See the Bourbon & Rum Credo

The Practice

We live in an age of hyper-realism, where curated outrage and algorithmic feeds feel more real than our own neighbors. We are pushing back. Civil disagreement is a skill we practice, not a threat we manage. We believe you can share a conversation with someone who challenges you, because a person is more than their voting record.

The Ritual

Serious conversation requires a kind of communion. We sit down, pour a bourbon and rum, and talk it out. The spirits are our symbolic representation that two different worlds can share the same table.

The Promise

We will relentlessly question the strategies and premises of the establishment, but we will never question the goodwill of one another. Civility is not just being polite; it is about claiming your truth without degrading others.

The Mission

Civil discourse isn’t always easy. We model the practice, so that you can be inspired and encouraged to have your own honest conversations and meaningful connections, even across deep divides.

The Invitation

Bourbon & Rum is for the skeptics and the seekers. It is for those who believe family and human connection are more sacred than partisan bickering. It is for those who realize they’ve only been hearing one side of the story and have the courage to seek context, because context opens the way to understanding. Finally, Bourbon & Rum is for those who believe that we cannot blame the system for a culture of division that we participate in every day.

If this is who you are, and this is the change you seek, you belong here.

Pull up a chair and join the conversation.

Meet the Hosts

kent the rum drinker.

Kent | The Left & The Rum

Kent is the voice from the left side of the aisle, usually with a glass of aged rum in hand. For Kent, this podcast is about intellectual honesty and the belief that we owe it to each other to listen, even when it’s uncomfortable. He’s not here to win an argument; he’s here to find out if we can find common ground in a world that feels increasingly divided.

Kyle | The Right & The Bourbon

Kyle holds down the conservative side of the conversation, fueled by a steady rotation of high-proof bourbons. He believes in rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds of policy and perspective. To Kyle, civil discourse isn’t about being polite. It’s about being real, staying respectful, and never letting a political disagreement get in the way of a brotherhood.
